To the maclura pomifera, a splendid tree which originates from North America, and which adorns the entrance to Terre di Nano, we have dedicated the name of this red wine. It is made from a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot carefully chosen from the vineyard from which you can admire the medieval town of Monticchiello in the Val d´Orcia.
It is an elegant and refined wine, full bodied and well balanced.
The Maclura is a wine that can be appreciated even more with the passage of time.

Production area – Toscana, Monticchiello di Pienza (Siena), 450-500 m above sea level.
Type – dry red.
Classification – IGT – typical geographic location.
Grape type – -Sangiovese 90%, Merlot 10%.
Vinification – in stainless steel vats with a controlled temperature of 28°-30° during fermentation.
Ageing – in barriques of French oak and 10 hl Slavonian oak barrels for twelve months, then in bottles for at least six months.
Quantity produced – max. 10.000 bottles (0.750 lt.).
Color – ruby red.
Aroma – intense, full, rich in spicy components and notes of small ripe red fruits.
Taste – exceptionally elegant, with a harmonic and strong, well-balanced structure, and long duration.
Matching dishes – it is ideal with prime red meats, grilled wild game, flavourful roasts, and it accompanies cured meats and aged cheese very well.
Way of serving – open at least one hour before consumption and serve at a temperature of 18-20 C.
Home ageing – ten years and more.
